Helping dogs across America to live safe, happy lives

Furry Friends, Florida

Furry Friends is a no-kill rescue organization headquartered in Jupiter, Florida. Furry Friends have been working diligently to move Florida to no kill status by being a first-line resource to local and regional municipal shelters. They are working closely with their shelter partner, Palm Beach County, to increase their save rate for canines and to increase spay/neuter capacity. Furry Friends have two full-time, high quality, high volume spay/neuter vets on staff to accommodate the needs of both Palm Beach County and municipal shelters across the region, but they lacked surgical space to meet the demand.

Dogs Trust USA is supporting Furry Friends, funding a new surgical suite for canine sterilization, enabling thousands more spay/neuter surgeries each year. Veterinary technicians and assistants have received training on new equipment, and there have been facility upgrades to ensure a maximally functional surgical environment.

So far, we’re thrilled to see that the project has begun ahead of schedule with 120 sterilizations in the first month of 2025 alone. Furry Friends have plans to double this number and prioritize community outreach efforts to increase awareness of the benefits of spay/neuter services.

“Together, we are creating a brighter future for dogs across South Florida and beyond, ensuring they live happier, healthier, and safer lives.” - Furry Friends, Florida
