Mission Rabies aims to save lives and empower communities through rabies elimination. Rabies is one of the world’s deadliest diseases that’s spread from animals to humans, yet it’s entirely preventable. Every year, millions of dogs’ and thousands of people’s lives are lost to rabies, despite the existence of simple, life-saving canine vaccines. Rabies disproportionately affects children and the poorest communities, and once symptoms appear, rabies is fatal. Mission Rabies targets rabies hotspots around the world, focusing on a combined strategy of vaccination, education and surveillance measures to eliminate rabies for good and transform people’s perceptions of dogs at the same time.
